Humate Soil Conditioner – Not Recommended
Q: Humate soil conditioner has been recommended for my lawn. We have poor soil and have problems with ring spot fungus. This area is not over-watered.
A: Despite many glowing claims from promoters, very little unbiased, university-based research supports the use of humate on a lawn.
It is expensive and I don’t think you will see a marked difference from using it. My preference would be to till in compost or soil conditioner to manage soil moisture and see if that helps control disease.
