Notes:
Hideous plant growing among some ivy on a slope. Vigorous twiner with small thorns along the stem. Has no redeeming qualities (no flowers, no winter color). I’m sure it’s quite common, but my landscape friends have not been able to identify it.

Hi, it looks to me a lot like Climbing Hydrangea. Are you sure it has thorns? Those may be the tendril – the little root things that cling to whatever it is growing on. If it really has thorns then I could be wrong. We have some growing on the side of our house and it hardly ever blooms. Probably not enough sun. I think they take a long time to establish and bloom.
