What is making the holes in the trunk? They are all up and down the trunk.

The holes are from a yellow-bellied sapsucker, a type of woodpecker. They don’t harm the tree, since they peck just deep enough for sap to ooze and insects to get caught, which they come back to eat. Tree looks to be an Eastern red cedar, but don’t quote me on that – I’m a wildlife specialist by trade, but not a plant person.
