Notes:

Starts growing in late January to early February. Seed heads, or spikelets, appear in late February. Dies out as weather gets hot. Spikelets have a brown/purple color. Most leaves a dark green, some leaves, especially lower leaves have a purple tint. Spreads vigorously.

    For now, I’m wondering if this might a species of wood rush (Luzula)? Some of species found in GA include L. multiflora (common wood rush), L. echinata (hedgehog wood), etc… Copy & paste the included link below for some of the species. Best wishes!
