Large tree covered with clumps of hanging bright orange crescent shaped pods, about 3 or four inches long.

Looks like a species in the Coral tree group (Erythrina). I don’t now for certain which one this is, but there two species that grow in CA looking similar to this tree are Evergreen Coral Tree (E. falcata) and Fireman’s cap )E. crystal-galis).
