Notes:
IÕve had some success propagating beech trees with sprouts from the seeds of an established tree. I wanted to do another one, so I chose a sprout last year that I thought was beech. Now that itÕs four feet high, IÕm beginning to think I made a mistake. The leaf vein pattern seems wrong. I estimate that its age is 18 months. IÕve attached a couple of photos. What do you think?

laura735 Master Identifier says:
Maybe something in the hackberries (Celtis)? Possible the sugarberry/Southern hackberry (C. laevigata) (?). If this is of the genus. I’m only guessing on the species. Check out the included link below for more information. You can also check out other species in the genus that listed on the same link as well. Best wishes! https://www.carolinanature.com/trees/cela.html
