Notes:
Hi there! Just trying to determine what these two shrubs are in the default landscaping that came with my home – the yellow-green shrub is rather small (2×2′), but neighbor’s is larger (4×3′). The shrub with the long leaves is larger, more the size of a camellia shrub . Probably easy answer, but I can’t seem to lock down the exact match. 🙂 Thank you!

You’re welcome Todd! You would the best judge of the second plant, since you have it in person. Sweetbox has alternate leaves. Gardenia’s leaves are opposite. Hope it helps a bit more. Looking forward to the flowers pic. Thank you and best wishes! Laura

Thank you!!! 100% right on the Wax Myrtle, that’s it! And I think the other is a sweetbox… seems close, but I’ll be sure to re-post once it flowers.

1- Maybe a type of bayberry aka wax-myrtle (Myrica). I’m guessing only, this might be the southern wax-myrtle (Myrica cerifera) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myrica 2- I can’t see the leaves clearly, and with out its flowers. I’m guessing only, it is either a type of sweetbox (Sarcococca) or a cultivar of Gardenia jasminoides. I’m leaning toward gadernia. When it blooms, if you don’t know by then, please post again with photo of the flowers. Thank you and best wishes
