We have this vine growing through our deck and bushes. We keep pulling them out. We’re looking for a vine killer that won’t everything else.

It’s a dewberry. I’d say southern dewberry but these things are so well scattered on at least the whole east coast that if there are some differences between one here and one there they’re probably insignificant. I’m sure they sport often. They are an annoying and uncomfortable nuisance. I would just pull them. Relentlessly. Probably forever.

I have these weeds in my garden, and they are obnoxious, with tons and tons of thorns on the stems. They wont stop growing and pulling them wont do the trick of killing them. Plus they are hiding in the bushes. I need help killing them ASAP!

Dewberry. First year canes, non-flowering, non-fruiting, five leaf: Primocane. Second year floricanes grow with three leaves and produce fruit. Interesting blog on the dewberry: http://bayouwoman.com/a-berry-good-education/

Possibly a trailing blackberry or dewberry? Don’t specifically recall seeing the red stems.
