It’s known as shiso when used in Japanese food- always uncooked, to my knowledge. I love the fragrance so I hope you cut it to use alone or with other things in vases. I think purple is the wild type since it took over the green quickly when I planted both. I’m in Zone 6 so it’s an annual but it’s been happily reseeding for over a decade. I think it’s closely related to basil and mint- too bad basil doesn’t reseed. I wouldn’t call it aggressive since it doesn’t spread during a single season and is easy to cut back or just pull where it doesn’t belong.
