Notes:
I have gone through all of my wildflower books and cannot find this plant. I cleared out a ton of English ivy and a trillium came up (but deer ate it… sigh) and these plants which the deer have eaten except for a few that I’m hoping to save by spraying Deer Gone on it because I don’t know if it’ll bloom or not. Anyway, I’m stumped.

Yep, that’s it! Thank you so much! It was driving me nuts as I couldn’t find it in any of my books. Probably because it’s considered a fern!

Maybe southern alder’s tongue fern plant (Ophioglossum vulgatum syn. O. pycnostichum)? Check it out and see if you have a match. Click on images from the included link to enlarge. Best wishes! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ophioglossum_vulgatum
