Notes:
This plant has appeared in many places around my wooded backyard in Marietta. The leaves have small teeth and alternate up the stem. Not sure whether to classify it as a tree or shrub, but most of the specimens are 2 ft tall or less.

Woody young specimens are often hard to narrow without its flowers & fruits. I’m wondering if this might be the black cherry (Prunus serontina)?
