these grow long white roots that spread throughout an area, almost like a ground cover. This is an early spring picture.

Great, I am sure I would enjoy ajuga spreading in my back yard more than the creeping charlie! I have some ajuga but it’s so slow. It is beginning to show a little blue I’ve noticed. Thanks, Bobby, but it isn’t wild violet. We have a lot of that and the leaves are larger. It also doesn’t emerge this early. I’m thinking now that maybe it is bugleweed (ajuga reptant).

I did a little poking around in the weed patch AKA my backyard today. This actually looks more like seedling wild violet than ground ivy.
