Notes:
While digging up a dead dogwood tree, I found several of these weird dark brown bulbs with singular roots. Any ideas?

It’s hard to tell without its leaves & flowers. Perhaps you could plant these and give us an update when they have leaves. For now check out a plant with similar looking tubers, the American ground nut (Apios americana). Click on the images from the included link below to enlarge.
