Notes:
I bought this as being a pineapple lily but Leaves are very sharp & serrated. blooms are on foot long stems, pink with purple spikes, which become small inedible pineapples , 1/2 doz on the plant. I'm at a loss, want to know what it is & if it's hardy, would rather not keep inside in winter. Thanks.

laura735 Master Identifier says:
This maybe dwarf pineapple (Ananas ananassoides ) (?), a pineapple variety. The one we are more familiar is A. comosus. this is a tropical plant, according to sources , not hardy for winter in your zone also sensitive to frost & cold winter rain.
The pineapple lily plant is in a different genus (Eucomis). Common names for plants can be confusing since different genera & species maybe sharing same common name. Best to use their scientific names instead. If you are not certain, we’ll be glad to help…Best wishes!
