Notes:
I was clearing out some unused yard space and came across this cool looking plant growing among wild strawberries and prickly nettle .. at first I thought it was a pine tree growing up through a plant.. nope.. the leaves are dark green and the yellowish colored , long, thing pieces are some sort of seed pod .. I’m hoping it’s not poisonous to people or my cats and dogs because I’d really like to keep it around..

Maybe a type of yellow rocket aka winter cress (Barbarea). These leaves looks similar to those of bittercress / winter rocket (Barbarea vulgaris). According to sources B. vulgaris is edible. Check it out and see if you have a match. Best wishes! https://www.google.com/search?q=garden+yellow+rocket&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjSqd_b9fXNAhUFOCYKHbNyDxgQ7AkILg&biw=1867&bih=909#imgrc=K2JJNsEplOE2nM%3A
