Notes:
Having my RV worked on (again) near Hattiesburg Mississippi and found these bushes around the shop. The leaves are shiny and the fragrant flower is a beautiful snow white. What is it? I took a few starts (with owners permission) and put them in water. Will they root that way?

If you can find a sucker with a root, grab it. Otherwise a more mature stem treated with rooting hormone and placed in damp sand in a plastic bag W/ just the top sticking out.

Thank you. I had my suspensions that it was a Gardenia, but I wasn’t sure. When you say “farther down”, did you mean the lower younger branches or like suckers with some roots? Cathy

Gardenia. Generally you need a piece from farther down the plant to make starters.

Gardenia. Lovliest fragrance. You can pot up if you dip woody stem cut on a slant in rooting powder.
