Notes:
A January day I spied this and thought it was a rare type of mushroom. However, it was not attached to the ground and was feather light, so is it a flower? It looks like a coral formation.

Could you post another picture of your palm side of this mystery? The object reminds me of an acorn but I have never seen the caps split like this.
