Notes:
My dog recently got this stuck in her foot. It did quite a bit of damage but eventually surfaced and we were able to remove it. We believe it to be a barbed seed pod of some sort but are desperate to identify it so we can remove the plant/weed/vine from the yard so this doesn’t happen again! Thank you for your help!!

Thank you for taking the time to answer! That is very interesting! …and she is much better now thank you. It really was amazing how much pain, swelling and infection that little thing caused!

Poor pooch! Glad you got it out. Not seeing the plant, I’m guessing only, this seed maybe from a species of Erodium genus. Some the common names include stork-bill, and pinweed. Check out and see if these plants around. Best wishes! https://www.google.com/search?q=Erodium+botrys+dry+seed+heads&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj-1uvjufbMAhVOFlIKHV9CAfMQ7AkIKw&biw=1979&bih=1015&dpr=0.9#tbm=isch&tbs=rimg%3ACawPPBPQcqJ5IjgDaiLKDau4kiy7_1napbkMSoI1bslB60JxFvv9l0zL4fDWXhhMwmt6EWV3GknoBu05TvyUM0SkVmSoSCQNqIsoNq7iSETXeRp76HTfQKhIJLLv-dqluQxIRq_1VrghW4JPIqEgmgjVuyUHrQnBEwGxWAUaWu2yoSCUW-_12XTMvh8EaIcPWuUZ037KhIJNZeGEzCa3oQRJfqDF2vAkK8qEglZXcaSegG7ThFX-PUM1tWCbSoSCVO_1JQzRKRWZEfS0bq-xQk92&q=Erodium%20botrys%20dry%20seed%20heads&imgdii=NZeGEzCa3oRcmM%3A%3BNZeGEzCa3oRcmM%3A%3BQK8yIKSWwFgXQM%3A&imgrc=NZeGEzCa3oRcmM%3A
