Tree – Mushrooms on Trunk
Q:This recently started growing on my pecan tree. It is getting larger and multiplying. The tree did have leaves on it this summer but I do not remember if it had pecans. What is this and is it going to kill the tree?
A: The mushrooms won’t kill the tree but the fungus that they signify is growing inside the trunk will cause the tree to fail.
See that stub someone left after pruning? It allowed water to get inside the trunk and now rot has pervaded. Nothing can be done about this except cutting the tree down.
