Scutellaria – Identification

Q: Please help us identify this ground cover and give a recommendation as to where to purchase. We want to add more but cannot find at the local garden center.

A: It’s Scutellaria suffrutescens – Texas skullcap. It grows reasonably well in Georgia if planted in full sun and in soil with very fast drainage. A 1:1 mix of pea gravel and soil conditioner should work nicely.
