Leaf Spot – On Maple
Q: I need help identifying what is wrong with a maple tree in my back yard. In the past few weeks that the leaves had numerous spots. Is there anything I can do to fix the problem?
A: Your maple has anthracnose, a common leaf spot disease. No control is necessary except raking and removing leaves from your property this fall. In this way innoculum won’t be present in spring to infect new leaves.
Anthracnose is very dependent on weather conditions. If we have a dry spring and a dry fall, the disease won’t reoccur.
