Herbicides – Marking lawn with dye

Q: I have a problem spot-spraying herbicides in my lawn. It is difficult to keep up with what I’ve sprayed and what I haven’t sprayed. I have seen a professional lawn care company using a spray that marks where it has been applied. Is there anything I can do to color my spray so it will be obvious where I’ve sprayed and where I haven’t?

A: Call a local water feature/pond supply store like Atlanta Water Gardens and ask if they have pond dye. Small pond owners use the concentrated dye to darken pond water and suppress algae growth. I would think it should be safe to use on your lawn but read and follow the label instructions..
