Danglepod – Identification
Q: I’m hopeful someone can help identify this plant. It has mimosa-like leaves that close at night, but it is upright – 10-12 feet tall. The stalk was green, until the seedpods came out, and now it is purple. The leaves are almost gone, now, leaving the seedpods.
The flowers were very small and were yellow and red, in August. The hummingbirds loved them. I threw a pack of miscellaneous seeds out to get the zinnias, etc. and one of these came up with the other flowers.
A: Plant identification whiz Shannon Pable says it is danglepod, Sesbania herbacea.
