Bladderpod – Identification
Q: I’ve attached pictures of a plant/weed that has now grown to over 8 feet tall with lots of the little blooms that are on some of the pictures.
This plant has fern-like fronds that close up at night but open in bright sunlight and the main stalk is quite thick and sturdy. Can you help me identify this?
A: Plant identification whiz Shannon Pable says it is bladderpod, Sesbania vesicaria. Though native to the southeast, it’s considered an invasive plant. Seeds are considered toxic to cattle & goats.
