Amaryllis – All Leaves, No Flowers
Q: I have an amaryllis plant I got as a kit box with soil, bulb and pot. It has been sitting in a spot with indirect sunlight and I have been watering it every other day. So far it has all leaves but no flowers.
A: The leaves look stretched out to me. This typically happens when the plant doesn’t get quite enough light. On the other hand, it should’ve made blooms even in indirect light.
It’s possible the bloom bud was knocked off due to rough handling before it was bought.
You can move it to a larger pot and take it outdoors when the weather warms up, then bring it inside next fall. It won’t bloom at Christmas but probably will during the following May.
