A: Figs growing in the open in Dahlonega can suffer lots of damage in a severe winter. But given a sheltered planting spot by a wall or barn, I’d try ‘Celeste’, ‘Brown Turkey’ or ‘LSU Purple’. If you’d rather not gamble and if you have a big pot and an unused corner of your garage in winter, consider ‘Little Miss Figgy’ dwarf fig. It only grows 6′ high and 4′ wide.
