Butterfly Houses – Not Helpful
Q: My daughter gave me a butterfly house that she was told had some kind of special paper in it to keep out wasps. It didn’t work. I go to the hospital real quick if a wasp stings me but I sure don’t want to put the butterfly house in the trash. Any ideas?
A: Butterfly experts have concluded that a butterfly box rarely benefits butterflies. Few, if any, use it for hibernation, shelter or forming their chrysalis. They are, however, excellent homes for paper wasps. My solution would be to put screen wire on the inside of the slots and keep ALL insects from going inside.
