Bagworms – Finding Pheromone Lures
Q: Can you tell me where to find pheromone lures for bagworms? Our Leyland cypresses are covered
A: As with Japanese beetle traps, bagworm lures are more useful for monitoring a pest population than for controlling it. There will always be pest insects that are not caught. By this time of year the females in the bags have slowed down their eating but spinosad (Captain Jack’s Dead Bug brew, etc) may kill some of them. Best strategy is to remove all bags you can see and be sure to spray in May, June and July next year.
