Dracaena- Infestation
Q: I just noticed our dracaena is full of a something that resembles tiny white cocoons, particularly on the back side of the leaves. They are also on the trunk. They wipe off easily but there are too many to do that regularly.
A: I think you have an infestation of mealy bugs. If you can’t wipe them all, try using a houseplant insecticide that contains pyrethrin or insecticidal soap. Spray thoroughly. It may take several applications at monthly intervals before you get good control.
You could also use a systemic insecticide like Bonide Systemic Houseplant Insecticide Granules but not if you have a dog or cat who might lick the soil after you apply the product. It is very effective on insects but pretty toxic to animals.
