Dracaena surculosa blooming
Q: I have had this plant for twelve years. I bring it inside for winter and outside on a screen porch in summer. It has been happy in the original pot. This summer it began to grow a straight up stem with no leaves. It is at least 36″ tall now. What should I do about it?
A: Your plant is a Dracaena surculosa, aka Gold Dust Dracaena.
It is reputed to flower when pot-bound, so you kept it the proper way. The stem that’s going straight up will produce a flower at some point.
It is very fragrant so enjoy it while it lasts!
