Tomatoes – Stink Bugs Return

Q; I had a big infestation of stink bugs on my tomatoes this year. Will I have this problem again next year?

A: If you have had stink bugs this year it’s likely you’ll have them next year too. They overwinter in weeds and debris around garden sites, so fall cleanup is important. The best control is gained when you get started as early as possible, in mid-May or when your first fruits appear. Acetamiprid (Ortho Vegetable Insect Killer) and spinosad (Captain Jack’s Dead Bug Brew) are labeled for use in a garden. Be sure to follow label instructions.
