Q: Where can I purchase pawpaw tree? Do I need to have more than one for it to fruit? How long does it take for a tree to produce?
A: Try Johnson Nursery in Ellijay or www.eat-it.com. You might also contact the Georgia Native Plant Society (www.gnps.org) and ask if any of their rescue trips would have pawpaw you could dig from the woods.
You will need a male and a female to have fruit so if you dig wild ones you’ll need enough room to grow several to determine the sexes. They fruit within ten years.
