Collards – Aphids
Q: I have a beautiful crop of collards, but cannot control the lice on them, what can I do. I have tried spraying with permethrin (Pounce) but it doesn’t seem to help.
A: Turnip aphids and green peach aphids (collard lice) are common pests of collards. Try the new spinosad insecticide, Captain Jack’s Dead Bug Brew. Spinosad is an insect nerve toxin derived from a naturally-occurring bacterium, Saccropolyspora spinosa. It is generally considered safe to use on vegetable crops.
