Tools – Sharpening
Q: My hand pruner is getting dull after a few years of hard work. Could you please tell me if it is easy to sharpen it?
A: A hand pruner is not terribly difficult to sharpen. All you need is a medium whetstone. I find it easiest to sharpen cutting tools when they are disassembled.
Lubricate the stone with vegetable oil and make several passes along the cutting edge. Before you begin, note the bevel angle of the edge. Hold the stone so you duplicate that angle as you pass the stone along the blade. Unless the blade is terribly nicked, you can sharpen it in just a few minutes.
