Notes:
The plant resembled eggplant when it was small and I decided to allow it to grow larger in my raised garden bed. Then it took off and started producing this weird looking fruit.
I think this is some sort of noxious weed. What is it?

Please resubmit with photos of the whole plant & flowers (if there are any). For now I could only speculate, I’m wondering if this might be something in the nightshade family ( Solanaceae )? Eggplant is also in this family. Possible a species in the Physalis? Copy & paste the included link below and check out information for the genus. Again I’m only speculating. Best wishes!
