Notes:

I trim the plant very short and put it in my basement in the fall until next spring. Then I sit it back out side. The pieces I trimmed off, I threw them in the edge of the woods. The pieces took root and are now spreading and survive the winter outside. The plant is not trying to run up the trees it just spreads on the ground. It likes sun or shade

You’re welcome! Appreciate for the ID feedback. Species of different genera in the Commelinaceae sometime can be hard to tell apart, in example the Tradescantia and Callisia. To add more confusion, the common names in the nursery trade are used for both. Hopefully yours would blooms someday. Best wishes to you Gerald!

This plant does not produce flowers. It has a small knuckle where every leave grows and that is where it grows roots and runs across the ground.

Maybe something in the spiderwort family (Commelinaceae)? Without its flowers to help narrow down, I’m taking a guess for now. This might be the small-leaf spiderwort (Tradescantia fluminensis). Flowers are needed for a confirmed ID of this suggest ID. Copy & paste the link below for image of this species. When it flowers and you still don’t know, please resubmit with flowers photo. Best wishes!
