It’s hard to tell at this stage. I’m unable to see their leaf buds details and could only speculate for now. If these are woody type of plants, to my eyes these leaves look like a handful species. Some of these are the American persimmon (Diospyros virginia), a type of tupelo (Nyssa, possible N. sylvatica? ), Carolina Laurelcherry (Prunus caroliniana), sourwood (Oxydendrum arboreum) etc… I can’t see any terminal buds of the Tupelo and leaning toward the American persimmon (?). This only a pure speculation. Perhaps you could resubmit with photo of the “tuberous” roots. The other suggestion is to let one specimen grows more mature give us an update.
