It was windy yesterday, please excuse the blurred pics. Here’s more detail of the backs of the flowers. The plant height was 6 to 8 feet, in a clump about 8+ feet wide.

Thank you for the update Stuart! Yes these pics are too blurry. From what I could see these phyllaries appear to be the same as those from Helianthus tuberosus. Open the included link in the first post for keys diagnostic images of involucre’s phillaries. Their shapes are triangular (wide at the base and taper to a sharp tip. Yours appear to have the same shape. Also its center is yellow (disk flower), same as those on the given link. In your photos, the leaves look like 3 veins ovate leaves with winged petiole. With its height 6-8 feet. From these clues, I’m still leaning toward the Jerusalem artichoke. But of course, the rhizome roots systems & tubers will quickly confirm if this Jerusalem artichoke.
