what is this plant? It’s in a sunny area next to a rose bush that is growing fine. There is a 2nd clump about a foot away. Trying to decide to keep and see what happens or maybe dig up and replace witha red leaf maple tree.

At this early stage, regrettably it’s hard to tell without its flowers. Also from this straight down view, it a bit difficult to see the plant’s leaves position on the stem. I think they are opposite (?). You could leave it there or transplant the plant in a pot until it blooms for ID purpose. Please give us an update as this grows more mature. Thank you and best wishes!
