Notes:
Two of these shrubs have appeared in my wooded backyard. Are they leather leaf mahonia and should I remove them. I have seen these a half a block away planted in my sub entry. I have spent 15 years trying to get rid of privet, ivy and honeysuckle in this area and donÕt want these to become a more difficult problem.

Attractive plant, but . . . you can control it in your yard, but nobody’s controlling it when birds spread it to nearby woods. Visit Fernbank Forest in Decatur if you want to see how it can take over a forest understory.
