Bradford pear pruned severely

Q: Recently our Bradford pear tree was pruned to this extreme. Will it still grow and bloom?
A: Bradford pear is a tough tree to kill so your tree will probably recover.
The person who did the pruning thought this would be a good way to relieve the weight of leaves on the limbs.
Bradford pear is well known to split apart in a rainstorm. In truth it simply gives the tree pruner an excuse to come back and prune every year in the future.
Consider replacing this tree when limbs start breaking again.
