Notes:
Tall pines near my house are overgrown with these vines. Last year I severed them all near the ground, but they are still alive on the trees. I’m worried they’ll hurt the pines which then might fall on the house. How do I kill the vines?

It can take a while for English ivy to die. Check again to be sure all Vines are cut and keep waiting.
