Notes:
Our students dug this up in a middle school garden bed that is in an enclosed court yard in the middle of a large building. It was in dirt about 4 inches deep and was whole. It was damaged when dug up and handled and then I sliced it in half to try to identify it. It has a thin soft white shell then a clear jelly material and then 3 separate structure areas that are yellow and brown. We didn’t plant anything like this and our Master Gardner and UGA Extension Agent have no ideas. Do you?

Maybe fruiting body (egg) of a species in the stinkhorn mushroom/fungi family (Phallaceae)? Check out images of various species from these included links. Click on images to enlarge. Perhaps you could try the blogger in the second link for a confirmed ID. Also the mushroom experts of Mushroom Club of Georgia. Best wishes! http://www.asergeev.com/pictures/k/Stinkhorn_mushroom.htm
