Notes:
They are growing so far to be 2 to 3 feet tall with a thick spiny stalk. Are they weeds? We just bought this house.

With out flowers to help narrow down, I’m wondering if these could be something in the snakeroot genus (Ageratina), this might be white snakeroot (A. altissima). Check it out and see if you have a match. When it blooms and you still don’t know, make new post with photo of flowers.
