Notes:
This started growing like crazy in past several weeks in particular. No flowers that I’ve noticed, and it’s going nuts in my mostly sunny front yard garden, taking over sedum and monkey grass and anything in its way. Wondering what it is, and best time to divide/replant…and if I should dig up the sedum, etc., now to move out of its way, as I love that it’s filling in empty spaces.

So that is the plant from which those beautiful alstroemeria flowers come. My question is: Why did you, Walter and Laura, eliminate those nasty “Snow-on-the-mountain” plants as the answer? https://www.google.com/search?q=snow+on+the+mountain+plant+images&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiYvbGlldvXAhXySd8KHd_ECXgQsAQIJQ&biw=1280&bih=800

I want to add, if this is my garden, I would relocate the sedums. According to source Alstroemeria needs generous amount of water in summer for good flowering result. Sedums is fairly drought tolerant type of plant. These two have different water requirement. In my humble opinion vigorous spreading plants need a space of their own. Otherwise you will have a high maintenance routine to keep them in check from their neighbors.

Hi Marla, any gardening questions are always welcome here. I don’t have any experiences with growing Alstroemeria. Perhaps these included link will help you further. Best wishes! http://homeguides.sfgate.com/can-divide-peruvian-lily-76104.html

I also meant to ask… any idea why they don’t seem to produce flowers? And, if they’re growing like crazy now, is the best time to divide and replant in early spring?? Hope that’s ok to ask here.
