Notes:
This is growing in Iowa. Had yellow flowers in the spring. Have included a picture of the seeds inside the seed pod.

Appreciate for the feedback Nancy! I’m not an Iris expert, and could only ‘guess’ from the given image. Check out these yellow flag iris seeds from included link below, they appeared to have ridges on their sides also. Again I’m not an expert and if yours is not yellow flag iris, please give us an update when yours are blooming next year! Best wishes! http://cedarmill.org/news/713/yellow-flag-iris.html

I checked out the yellow flag iris. But the seeds have curved edges. This plant has copper-colored seeds with 5 straight edges per seed , or pentagon shaped seeds. The info was correct in one aspect — the seed pod has 3 distinctive rows of seeds per pod.

With out the flowers to help narrow down. I’m guessing this might be a type of Iris (?). Check out the included link below for the yellow flag Iris seed pod. If this isn’t that, when it blooms again make new post with photo of flowers. Best wishes! http://www.nyis.info/index.php?action=invasive_detail&id=69
