Is this buck thorn | Walter Reeves: The Georgia Gardener

Name that plant

This started growing last year. Some say it is buckthorn others say know. If it is what is harm or should we cut down. Please advise

It looks suspiciously like bucthorn, but without the flowers to confirm and buckthorn can be confused with other natives, I can’t be for certain . According to sources, the inner bark has yellow or orange coloring. Check out these links below to help ID buckthorn.
