Notes:
The person who gave me this plant could not remember its name. She had it planted in a part sun location. I know that it spreads and it is perennial. I received the plant last summer and just dropped it into a pot. It died back over the winter and seems to be quite happy this spring.

Image is a bit blurry for leaves details. Could you friend describe its flowers? I could only speculate for now, maybe a type of Japanese anemone? Check out these image below, click t enlarge. When its blooms and you still don’t know, make new post with flowers. Best wishes! https://www.google.com/search?q=Japanese+anemone+plants+leaves&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjruJf2h5_TAhVCj1QKHRy-CiAQ7AkIYA&biw=1722&bih=833#imgrc=_

The leaves sort of resemble an Acanthus Mollis “Bear’s Breeches”. My sister has one and it is huge and gets 3 foot spires of purple/white flowers every year. Some of the lower leaves become variegated and the person who gave it to her said that means it is very happy!
