Notes:
I found this plant in Willis Creek canyon in southern Utah near Bryce Canyon NP. I think it may be a variety of paintbrush but am not sure. This is an arid country though this was found near a small, flowing creek. I do not see the western region as a choice below–I selected West Coast US though this is misleading.

Looks like you are right. Sorry, I don’t know which is yours species. Some of the species grow in Utah with narrow leaves include Castilleja linariifolia, (Castilleja scabrida).
