The first plant when I pulled it out before berry like thing had a parsnip like bottom. Spread all over where I cut down 28 trees early spring. 2nd photo they are growing here and there but can’t just cut down with weed Wacker. Please help. How do I stop the 1st plant from growing next year?

Rod Whitefield Apprentice says:
Pokeweed. A great bird-food plant when berries ripen…also pretty erect, purple stemmed plant but is poisonous.

The pokeweed pulls up easily, and grows back only from dropped seed.

First one is Pokeberry or Pokeweed. Native, not invasive. Every part of the plant is poisonous, but also edible. Berries can be fermented for poke wine, which has been used in small doses for arthritis. Add salt and you have a colorfast (but not lightfast) ink, which is how this plant gets another of its names – “inkberry”. Leaves of the young plant can be boiled repeatedly and the water discarded to create “poke salad”. Tincture of the root is said to be an immune booster. As for getting rid of it, the main thing is not to let the berries grow and hit the ground. Pull it up young.
